But ten loose screenshots are awkward to send. A single PDF is neat, keeps the order, and opens on every device.
This guide shows you how to turn screenshots into one PDF without installing anything.
Step 1: Take screenshots that are easy to read
A few simple habits make the final PDF much better.
- Capture the whole thing. If a page scrolls, take one screenshot per screen and make sure each one overlaps a little with the next, so nothing is missed. Many phones also have a “scrolling screenshot” option.
- Hide private details first. Before you capture, close notifications and consider what else shows on screen: phone numbers, account numbers, names. You can crop them out later in your photo app.
- Use normal brightness. A very dim screen makes grey text hard to read in print.
- Name or number the shots. If your phone lets you rename them, use 1, 2, 3. The order matters.
Step 2: Open the PNG to PDF tool
Most phones save screenshots as PNG files. Open our PNG to PDF tool and tap the big box. Your phone will open your gallery or files. Select all the screenshots you want. You can choose many at once.
If some of your pictures are JPG, or a mix, use JPG to PDF instead. It accepts JPG, PNG and WebP together.
Your screenshots are not uploaded. The PDF is made by your browser, on your own device.
Step 3: Put them in the right order
Below the box you will see your screenshots in a list. The PDF follows the list from top to bottom.
- Tap the arrows to move a screenshot up or down.
- Tap the bin to remove one.
- On a computer, you can drag them into place.
Look at the order once more before you go on. It is easy to fix now, and annoying to fix later.
Step 4: Choose the page options
Page size. Choose A4 or Letter if the PDF might be printed. These keep every page the same size and put your screenshot in the middle with space around it.
Choose Fit to image when the pages are meant for the screen. Each page then matches its screenshot exactly. This is the best choice for very tall screenshots, like a long chat, because nothing gets shrunk to fit a standard page.
Page direction. Leave it on Automatic. Phone screenshots are tall, so they get tall pages.
Margin. A small margin looks tidy on paper. Choose None if you want the screenshot to fill the page.
PDF size. Original quality keeps your screenshots crisp, with small text staying sharp. Balanced and Smallest turn the pictures into smaller JPG images inside the PDF. This makes a much lighter file, but fine text can get a little fuzzy.
Step 5: Create and check the PDF
Tap Create PDF and then Download. Open the file and scroll through it. Check that:
- every page is there and in order
- the text is readable when you zoom in
- nothing private is showing that should not be
Why PNG screenshots can make big PDFs
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which is great for text but heavy. A phone screen full of detail can be one or two megabytes. A PDF of fifteen screenshots can reach 20 MB or more.
If your PDF is too large to send:
- Create it again with Balanced under PDF size.
- Or use Compress PDF on the result. The Medium level keeps things looking the same for most files.
- Or send fewer screenshots. Crop out parts you do not need before you start.
You can also read our guide on compressing a PDF to under 200 KB if a form has a strict limit.
Join the PDF with other documents
Need your screenshots plus an official letter or a form? Make the screenshot PDF first, then use Merge PDF to join it with the other PDF files. Our merge guide explains the steps.
Is it good as proof?
A PDF of screenshots is handy for showing what you saw, such as a payment screen or an error message. But a screenshot can be edited by anyone, so some offices and companies will not accept it as official proof. If an organisation needs a specific document, ask them what they accept.
Common problems
“The tool says it is not a PNG.” Some phones save screenshots as JPG. Use JPG to PDF instead.
“The text looks blurry.” Switch PDF size back to Original quality, and check that you did not lower the screenshot size in another app.
“The pages are in the wrong order.” Use the up and down arrows before you press Create PDF. If you already made the PDF, Organize PDF can reorder its pages.
Quick checklist
- Take clear screenshots and hide private details.
- Open PNG to PDF and choose them all.
- Check the order.
- Choose Fit to image for long screenshots, or A4 for printing.
- Create the PDF, open it and check every page.
- Compress if the file is too big.
It takes about a minute, and you end up with one file instead of a pile of pictures.
Try it now
Put screenshots and PNG graphics into one PDF. Sharp edges stay sharp, and you can combine many images in one file. Your files never leave your device.
