Frequently asked questions

What do the levels mean?

Low tidies the file and keeps everything as is. Medium makes the photos inside the PDF smaller and keeps text selectable. Strong turns each page into a picture, which gives the smallest file.

Will I still be able to select text?

With Low and Medium, yes. With Strong, no: every page becomes an image, so text can no longer be selected, searched or copied.

What does target size do?

You choose a size like 200 KB and the tool tries stronger and stronger settings until the file fits. If it cannot get that small, it tells you and gives you the smallest file it reached.

Why did my PDF barely get smaller?

Some PDFs are already compact or contain mostly text. Try Strong, but remember that text will no longer be selectable.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Compression runs inside your browser and your file never leaves your device.
