Frequently asked questions
How do I crop with my finger?
Touch the box and drag it to move it. Touch one of its round corner handles and drag to make it bigger or smaller. The rest of the page still scrolls normally when you touch outside the box.
Can I crop to an exact shape such as a square?
Yes. Pick Square, 4:3, 16:9, 3:4 or passport-style from the list, and the box keeps that shape while you move and resize it. The passport-style shape is a common size, not an official rule, so check the instructions of your form.
Does cropping make the photo worse?
The crop keeps the pixels of the original, so nothing is shrunk. JPG and WebP photos are saved again, which is why there is a quality slider: a higher number keeps more detail. PNG photos are saved without any loss.
Can I turn or flip the photo first?
Yes. Use Turn left, Turn right and the two flip buttons. The box starts again on the turned photo, and what you see is what you get.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is cropped inside your browser on your own device, and the original file is never changed.
