Voice Recorder

Record your voice right in the browser. Pause when you need to, trim the ends on a waveform, then save the sound as MP3, M4A or WAV.

Your recording never leaves your device

Before you start

When you tap Start, your browser will ask if this site may use your microphone. Say yes only for the time you record. The sound is saved on this device while you speak, so it is not lost if the page closes. It is never sent anywhere.

Sound clean-up

An hour of recording uses roughly 350 MB of space on this device until you save or delete it.

How to use it

  1. Step 1: Tap Start recording and allow the microphone when your browser asks. Speak, and watch the level bar move.
  2. Step 2: Use Pause and Resume if you need a break, then tap Stop. Drag the handles to cut off the start or the end.
  3. Step 3: Choose MP3, M4A or WAV, tap Save the recording, and download or share the file.

Your files never leave your device

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so your documents and photos stay private. It is free, has no watermark and needs no sign-up.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the page ask for my microphone?

A browser must have your permission before a page can hear anything. The question appears only when you tap Start recording, and the microphone is switched off again when you stop. The sound is saved on your own device and is not sent to anyone.

What if I blocked the microphone by mistake?

Tap the lock or settings icon beside the web address, allow the microphone for this site, and tap Start recording again. On a phone you may also need to allow the browser to use the microphone in the phone settings. The page tells you when the microphone is blocked or missing.

What happens if the page closes while I record?

The sound is saved on your device a little at a time, so only the last second or so can be lost. The next time you open this page it offers to open the unsaved recording. A Delete recording button removes it from your device whenever you like.

Can I choose which microphone to use?

Yes. When your device has more than one, such as a headset and the built-in one, a list appears before you start. You can also turn noise and echo reduction on or off.

How long can I record?

It depends on the free space on your device. An hour uses roughly 350 MB until you save or delete it. If the space runs out, the recording stops and keeps what it has. Keep the screen on, because some phones stop the microphone when the screen locks.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. It is kept in your browser storage and turned into a file on your device. Nothing goes to our servers or anyone else. The microphone is allowed on this page only.
