Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between PDF to PNG and PDF to JPG?
PNG keeps every pixel exactly and has crisp edges, which suits text, logos and drawings. The files are larger. JPG makes smaller files and suits photos. If the page is a photo or a scan and you need a small file, use PDF to JPG.
Can I get a transparent background?
Tick the box to keep the empty parts of the page see-through. This only works for pages that have no background colour, such as a logo or a drawing saved as a PDF. A scanned page, a photo or a page with a coloured background stays solid, because that colour is part of the page.
Which size should I choose?
Standard is good for screens and most uses. High gives sharper small text. Max is for printing or zooming in a lot, and it makes large files. The page under the options shows the exact number of pixels before you convert.
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Type the pages in the Pages box, for example 1-3, 5. Leave it empty to convert every page. The pictures keep the real page number in their names.
Why are the PNG files so large?
PNG does not throw any detail away. A full page at the Max size has millions of pixels. Choose a smaller size, or use PDF to JPG, if you need light files.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The pages are drawn and saved inside your browser, on your device. The PDF and the pictures never go to our servers or anyone else.
