How to Delete Pages from a PDF

· 4 min read

Remove unwanted pages from a PDF on your phone or PC. See every page as a preview, delete the extras and save a new file. Nothing is uploaded.

Free tool for this guide Organize PDF → Reorder and delete pages with previews.

To delete pages from a PDF, open the Organize PDF tool, choose the file, tap the bin button under each page you do not want, and tap Save PDF. You get a new PDF without those pages, and your original stays as it was.

You can also do the opposite with the Split PDF tool: type the pages you want to keep. Both ways work in your browser, and your file is not uploaded.

What you need

  • The PDF, on your phone or computer
  • A list of which pages to remove, or which to keep
  • About two minutes

Steps to delete pages from a PDF

  1. Open the Organize PDF tool, tap the box and choose your PDF. Preview pictures of all the pages appear.
  2. Look through the previews. Page numbers are shown under each one, so you can find the ones to remove.
  3. Tap the bin button under each page you want to delete. The page is marked as deleted. If you tap the wrong one, tap Restore to bring it back before you save.
  4. If you also want to change the order of the remaining pages, use the arrow buttons under a page, or drag a page on a computer.
  5. Tap Save PDF and wait for the progress bar to finish.
  6. Download the new PDF and open it. Scroll through to check that only the pages you wanted are gone, and that the rest are in the right order.

Another way: keep only the pages you need

If you want to keep only a few pages from a long PDF, it can be quicker to tell the tool which ones to keep.

  1. Open the Split PDF tool and choose your PDF.
  2. Type the pages to keep, using commas and dashes. For example, 1-3, 5, 8-10 keeps pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10.
  3. Tap Split PDF and download the result.

Which tool should I use?

  • Use Organize PDF when you want to see the pages and pick the ones to remove, or when you also want to change the order.
  • Use Split PDF when you know the page numbers and want to keep a range, or when you want to cut the document into several files.

Both make a new file. Neither changes your original.

What happens to the quality

Pages are copied into the new file exactly as they are. Text stays selectable, pictures keep their quality, and the layout does not change. Only the pages you deleted are missing.

If the new file is still too big, you can shrink it afterwards with Compress PDF. Our guide on reducing PDF size without losing quality explains the gentle settings first.

A note about private information

Deleting a page is a good way to leave out a page you do not want to send. But it is not the right tool for hiding a detail on a page you do keep. If a page holds something private, such as an account number, use Redact PDF instead, and read our guide on hiding personal information in a PDF.

Also open the finished file and look at it before you share it, especially if the deleted pages held anything private.

Common problems

I deleted the wrong page. Tap Restore under it before you save. If you already saved, go back to your original file and do it again. The original is never changed.

The pages are small and hard to read. On a phone the previews are small. Turn the phone sideways, or use a larger screen, to see the page numbers more clearly.

It will not open my file. A PDF with a password cannot be read in the browser. If you know the password, remove it first with Unlock PDF.

The file is large and slow. Previews load page by page, so a very long PDF takes longer on a phone. Be patient, or split it first.

Frequently asked questions

Does deleting pages change my original file?

No. The tool makes a new PDF. Your original stays exactly as it was.

Can I undo a deletion?

Yes, before you save. Tap Restore under the page. After you save, go back to your original file and start again.

Can I delete many pages at once?

Yes. Tap the bin button on each page you want to remove, or use Split PDF to keep a range of pages by typing the numbers.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The pages are copied inside your browser, on your device. Your file never leaves it.

Will the remaining pages look the same?

Yes. Pages are copied without being changed, so text and images keep their quality.
