· 4 min read
Turn every page of a PDF into a JPG picture on your phone. Choose the sharpness, save one page or all pages as a ZIP. Free and private.
Free tool for this guide PDF to JPG → Save each PDF page as a JPG image. To convert a PDF to JPG, open the PDF to JPG tool, choose your file, pick the image size, tap Convert and download the pages. Each page of the PDF becomes one JPG picture.
You can save a single page or take all of them in one ZIP file. The pages are drawn inside your browser, so your PDF is not uploaded.
What you need
- The PDF on your phone or computer
- An idea of what the pictures are for: sharing in a chat, uploading to a form or printing
- About a minute, a little longer for a long PDF
Steps to convert a PDF to JPG
- Open the PDF to JPG tool, tap the box and choose your PDF. The file stays on your device.
- Under Image size, choose Small (good for chat apps), Standard, High (sharper text) or Max (large files). Standard suits most forms. Under JPG quality, Balanced is a good start, and Smaller file or Best quality change the trade-off.
- Tap Convert to JPG. The tool draws the pages one after another. A progress bar shows how far it has got.
- When it finishes, tap a single page to download just that one, or tap Download all as ZIP to get every page in one file.
- Open the pictures and check the first one. If the text looks too soft, go back, choose a higher size and convert again.
Which size should I choose?
The size controls how many pixels each picture has. More pixels mean a sharper picture and a bigger file.
- Small. The lightest pictures. Good for chat apps when speed matters more than sharpness.
- Standard. Light and quick. Good for email and most online forms.
- High. Sharper small text. Good for pages with fine print, tables or stamps.
- Max. The largest files. Good for printing or zooming in a lot. It uses more memory, so a long PDF may be slow on an older phone.
Start with Standard, because smaller files upload faster. Move up only if you need to.
When to turn a PDF into pictures
People turn PDFs into JPGs for many reasons:
- A website accepts only an image, not a PDF, for a document upload.
- You want to send one page in a chat app that handles pictures better than PDFs.
- You need to put a page into a presentation or a document as a picture.
- You want to run a page through an image tool, such as Image to Text, Compress Image or Resize Image.
Things to know about the result
A JPG is a picture. The text on it can no longer be selected or searched, and links do not work. If you need the words, read them from the picture with Image to Text, or keep the PDF.
Colour pages come out in colour. Pages with transparent areas get a white background, because a JPG cannot be transparent.
JPG is made for photos. For pages with sharp text, a high size gives the cleanest result. If you want to understand the formats better, read our guide on JPG, PNG and WebP.
If the pictures are too big for a form
Many forms limit the file size of an image. After you convert, you can shrink a picture with Compress Image and choose a target size such as 200 KB or 500 KB. If a form wants specific pixel sizes, use Resize Image.
Going the other way
If you later want to turn pictures back into one PDF, use JPG to PDF. Our guide on turning phone photos into one PDF shows how.
Common problems
The picture looks blurry. Choose High or Max and convert again. Standard keeps files small, and that costs some sharpness.
It is slow or stops. A long PDF at a high size needs a lot of memory. Convert fewer pages at a time, using Split PDF first, or choose Standard.
The PDF will not open. A password-protected PDF cannot be read in the browser. If you know the password, remove it first with Unlock PDF.
I cannot find the files. On a phone, check your Downloads folder or your browser’s download list.
Frequently asked questions
How many pages can I convert?
All pages are converted, one after another. A long PDF takes longer on a phone, and you can watch the progress bar.
Can I download only one page?
Yes. Tap a single page to save only that one, or use the ZIP button to get all of them together.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The pages are drawn and saved inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Why is the image blurry?
The size may be too low. Choose High or Max, then convert again.
Will the JPG keep the text selectable?
No. A JPG is a picture of the page. If you need the text, use the Image to Text tool on the picture, or keep the PDF.
