Free tool for this guide JPG to PDF → Turn photos and images into one PDF.

To convert JPG photos to PDF on an iPhone, open the JPG to PDF tool in Safari, choose your photos from the photo library, set their order, and tap Create PDF. You do not need an app, and your photos are not uploaded.

The finished PDF is saved by Safari, and you can find it in the Files app, usually in Downloads. This guide shows each tap, and what to do about the HEIC format iPhones use.

What you need

  • An iPhone with Safari (or another browser such as Chrome)
  • The photos on your phone, in your photo library or in Files
  • About two minutes

Steps to make a PDF from photos on iPhone

  1. Open the JPG to PDF tool in Safari and tap the box that says to choose photos.
  2. In the menu that appears, choose Photo Library to pick photos you already have, or Take Photo to use the camera. Tap the photos you want. You can pick many at once.
  3. Tap Add. The photos appear as a list with small previews.
  4. Put them in the order you want with the arrow buttons. The first photo becomes the first page.
  5. Choose the page size, direction and margin. A4 with a small margin suits most documents. If you want each page to match its photo exactly, choose Fit to image. The PDF size option can be set to Balanced to keep the file light.
  6. Tap Create PDF and wait for the progress bar to finish.
  7. Tap Download. Safari asks to confirm the download. Then open the Files app and look in Downloads, or tap the download arrow at the top of Safari to open the PDF straight away.

What about HEIC photos?

By default, an iPhone saves photos as HEIC, a format that makes small files but is not accepted everywhere. When you pick photos through Safari, the iPhone usually hands them over as JPG, so they work with no extra step.

If a photo does come through as HEIC, the tool can still read it. A small converter, about half a megabyte, downloads once and only when a HEIC file is chosen. If you want ordinary JPG files for other uses, our HEIC to JPG guide shows how, and you can also change a setting so new photos are saved as JPG.

Tips for a clean PDF

  • Hold the phone straight above the page. Photos taken at an angle make the text slant and are harder to read.
  • Use good light. Daylight from a window works well. Avoid a shadow across the page.
  • Fill the frame. Get close enough that the page fills the photo, so the text is large.
  • Check the order. Look at the previews before you tap Create PDF. It is easier to fix the order now than later.
  • Keep it light for email. A PDF from many large photos can be big. Our Compress PDF tool can make it smaller, or you can shrink the photos first with Compress Image.

Sending or saving the PDF

After you download the PDF, you can open it in Files and tap the share button to send it by Messages, WhatsApp or email. The tool’s result screen also has a Send it section. On an iPhone it opens the share sheet, so you can send the PDF to a chat without saving it first.

If you need to join this PDF to another one, use Merge PDF.

Common problems

I cannot find the PDF. Open the Files app, tap Browse, then Downloads. If you used a different browser, its downloads may be in that browser’s own folder.

The photos are sideways. The tool reads the rotation stored by the camera and turns each photo the right way up. If one page still looks wrong, fix the finished PDF with Rotate PDF.

The picker only shows some photos. Tap Photo Library, then choose the album that holds them. Photos stored in iCloud may need a moment to download.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an app to convert JPG to PDF on iPhone?

No. The tool works in Safari. Open the page, choose photos, and create the PDF. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The PDF is built inside your browser, on your phone. Your photos are never sent to our servers or anyone else.

Can I put many photos in one PDF?

Yes. Add as many as your phone can handle and arrange their order before you create the PDF. A very large number of big photos may be slow on an older iPhone.

Why does my PDF look too large?

Large photos make a large PDF. Make the photos smaller first, or compress the finished PDF with the Compress PDF tool.

Does the tool add a watermark?

No. The PDF you download is clean, with no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.
