Frequently asked questions
Does a WAV sound better than the MP3?
No. The detail that MP3 removed cannot be brought back, so the WAV sounds the same as the MP3. What you gain is a plain, uncompressed file that more programs and devices can read.
Why is the WAV so big?
A WAV stores every sample without compression. One minute of stereo at 44.1 kHz is about 10 MB. Choose Mono, or a lower sample rate such as 22,050 Hz, to make it smaller.
What format does the WAV use?
It is a standard PCM WAV with 16 bits per sample, which every editor, phone and game engine can open. The sample rate and channels follow your choices.
Can I pick the sample rate?
Yes. Keep the original, or choose 22,050, 32,000, 44,100 or 48,000 Hz. Video tools often want 48,000 Hz, and music players use 44,100 Hz.
Is there a limit on the number of files?
No fixed limit. They are converted one after another, so many large files take longer and need space on your device for the result.
Are my files kept private?
Yes. The conversion happens inside your browser and nothing is uploaded.
